|WellPoint’s Roy Mellinger Named One of 2013 CISO Top 10 Breakaway Leaders|
INDIANAPOLIS – September 16, 2013 – WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE: WLP) announces its chief information security officer, Roy Mellinger, has been named one of 2013 CISO Top 10 Breakaway Leaders during its inaugural Global CISO Executive Summit in Aspen, Colorado. The 2013 CISO Top 10 Breakaway Leader Awards honor world-class information security executives whose leadership elevates their people, partners and business. This year’s theme was Empowering Leadership Through Collective Insight. Invited attendees of the Global CISO Executive summit included chief information security officers from Fortune 500 companies, the United States government and Canada.
Roy Mellinger joined WellPoint in 2009 and is currently the company’s vice president and chief information security officer. Roy has more than 30 years experience in developing and managing best-in-class physical, logical and information security programs for domestic and international business operations. At WellPoint, he oversees IT risk management, cyber-investigations and ensures corporate compliance with federal and industry regulatory mandates intended to protect sensitive information. Roy is also a director on the board of the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST), a collaborative of health care, business, technology and information security leaders. Roy was also named to ExecRank’s “Top Security Executives Rankings” for 2012.
